Vikas Dubey encounter: UP authorities to file standing report, SC to listen to pleas on July 20 – The Opinion

NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh authorities advised the Supreme Court Tuesday it might file a status report detailing the steps taken by the authorities on encounter killings of gangster Vikas Dubey and his associates.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde stated it might think about appointing a committee headed by a former decide to probe the encounters of Dubey and his aides as additionally the killing of eight Uttar Pradesh policemen by the gangster.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, showing for Uttar Pradesh, advised the bench that he would file the standing report by July 16.

The apex courtroom stated it might hear on July 20 the pleas in search of court-monitored probe into the encounters of Dubey and his associates.

Eight policemen, together with DSP Devendra Mishra, have been ambushed in Bikru village in Chaubeypur space of Kanpur after they have been going to arrest Dubey and fell to bullets fired from rooftops shortly after midnight on July 3.

Dubey was killed in an encounter on the morning of July 10 when a police automobile carrying him from Ujjain to Kanpur met with an accident and he tried to flee from the spot in Bhauti space, the police had stated.
