Rohtang tunnel anticipated to be inaugurated by PM Modi in final week of Sept: Jai Ram Thakur

Dharamshala: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is predicted to inaugurate the 8.8-km-long Rohtang tunnel, being constructed on the Leh-Manali freeway, within the final week of September, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur stated on Thursday. He stated the tunnel will give all-weather connectivity to the distant and border areas of the state.

The strategically essential challenge is being accomplished at a price of around Rs 3,200 crore, he stated.

“The tunnel, which was a dream of Atal Bihari Vajpayee is expected to be inaugurated in the last week of September by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It will give all-weather connectivity to the remote and border areas,” the chief minister instructed reporters right here.

The tunnel is, without doubt, one of the longest highway tunnels within the nation and is being constructed at an elevation of 10,171 toes below Rohtang Pass within the Japanese Pir Panjal vary of the Himalayas.
